Ramakoti SHG Women Farmers Producers Company

Ramakoti SHG women farmers producers company has advanced as a solution to challenges faced by the Rural Mango and Tomato farmers in Krishna District. During a low margin sale days, farmers were used to dispose of the tomato’s and fallen mangos, which are probable income sources if dried and processed. Abhaya Educational Society during a baseline survey, identified the need and motivated rural farmers to form groups to help each other and generate self-sustainable income through this innovative market approach.

Livelihood & Enterprise Development Program (LEDP)

AES is working with Farmers in Nuzvid Mandal. In this Mandal most of the farmers cultivate Tomatoes and Mango. 4 of every 10 farmers are into this cultivation and they all are schedules tribes. During high yields, they do not get minimum sales and the price is dropped. These excess tomatoes are used for preparing verities of products such as Tomato Pickles, Tomato Powder, Tomato Soup, Tomato Souse, Tomato Puree, and other allied products of Tomato recipes. In this crisis AES with the support of NABARD has implemented the LEDP programs with local Self Help Groups to improve their livelihoods and develop business activities and increase economic sustainability.
